Food for thought

This week I went to Terry & Jo’s Food for Thought. It is conveniently located on Speight and 12th, so about four blocks from campus. This is a great place to grab a healthy snack and they even have a few groceries you can purchase when you first walk in.
The menu is very diverse and you can choose from a variety of different types of foods, from Mexican to Italian. There is a good amount of vegetarian variety as well, which leaves you with a lot of choices of what to order. They also have delicious smoothies, which are a bit over priced but well worth it on a hot day.
I decided to try Eden’s Best which is a sandwich that consists of tomato, avocado and cucumber with melted Monterrey jack cheese on a wheat bun. My friend I came with ordered a cheese pizza, which is another one of their vegetarian options.
It was very refreshing but quite difficult to eat. The cheese gave it some flavoring, and the vegetables were all cut into small slices which were hard to keep into the sandwich. It also came with a side of blue corn tortilla chips and salsa. I ended up dipping the sandwich into the salsa for more flavor, because just the vegetables were not enough for me.

Due to convenience, this is a great restaurant to try. The prices are average, and the food is decent.

Lula Janes wins my heart

Lula Janes is a quaint little bakery located in Waco. They are known for their delicious desserts as well as healthy vegetarian options.
They only make one option for lunch a day, but no matter what day you go on you can’t go wrong. Every meal they offer are vegetarian and made fresh daily.
Today happened to be vegetarian burritos with a side kale salad. I decided to get the combo which includes a drink and one of their delicious baked goods. I got lemonade and a slice of blueberry pie (which I ate later because the burrito was a lot more filling than expected).

Not only was the meal aesthetically pleasing, but it also tasted delicious. Inside the tasty tortilla was rice, sweet potato, peppers, corn, and a variety of other vegetables and was drizzled in a ranch type dressing. I’m typically not a kale fan, but the dressing on the kale salad took away the bitterness and tasted actually quite good.

Lula Janes has definitely been my favorite vegetarian restaurant that I have found in Waco so far, and I would highly recommend it even if you’re not vegetarian to go and fall in love with the vegetarian options they have to offer.

Cafe Cap

Cafe Cappuccino is known for their delicious breakfasts throughout Waco. They have three different locations, and take reservations, which makes it quite accessible.
I've gone there quite a few times, but I’ve never taken the time to consider if they had options for vegetarians (besides their delicious pancakes). I was pleasantly surprised when I found the Veggie & Swiss omelet. It came with a side of either toast or a pancake and I opted for one giant blueberry pancake.

When it first arrived I was slightly disappointed with the appearance of the omelet, it looked very small and unimpressive next to the pancaked it was served with. But once I began eating the variety of different vegetables and colors of them within it all came out and it began to look better. The flavor was delicious and everything was served hot and quick which is always something to look for in a restaurant.

Although it may not look appetizing, I would say CafĂ© Cappuccino is a good option if you’re looking for somewhere with a delicious vegetarian breakfast.
