For my first blog post I figured it would be fitting to go to my
favorite Waco restaurant, Baris, with a few of my best friends. It is located
off of Valley Mills about ten minutes from campus which makes it a great spot
for date nights or just grabbing lunch with some friends.
As soon as you walk in the door you feel welcomed by the family who
owns the place and the delicious aroma of Italian food filling the air. Being
Italian, I absolutely love authentic Italian food and have a deep appreciation
for it.
The service was speedy, and the bread rolls were quickly on
our table after sitting down. The drinks come with the same ice that Sonic uses
that crunches in your mouth which goes wonderfully with a huge glass of water
on these hot days. Since this is a vegetarian food blog I decided to try
something new and got the spinach lasagna with their famous pink sauce and my
friends all ordered the most well known dish of tortellini pink.
The food came out piping hot in a bowl
that was scalding to the touch with gooey cheese melted across the top. As you
dig in you notice the intricate layers of pasta, cheese and spinach that
perfectly pair with each other. It is reasonably priced, especially for the
quality of the food. The portions are also huge, but the food heats up well so
I would advise getting a to go box.
Overall,
I highly recommend this restaurant. In my opinion, it is the best Italian food
in Waco. Unparalleled in price, taste and service to any other restaurant of
its kind.
