From Austin to Waco, Torchy's is a success

Being a native of Austin, Texas I was ecstatic to find out there was a Torchy’s Tacos here in Waco. Torchy’s is known for being vegetarian friendly and having many options to choose from. As an appetizer I was between guacamole, queso and salsa (which were all vegetarian options) but I decided on the green chile queso. For the vegetarian options for tacos I decided amongst the fried avocado taco, the independent taco, and the Dirty Sanchez taco I decided to try the fried avocado.

The queso came out almost as soon as I had gotten to the table after filling up my drink. In it was green chilies, guacamole, a splash of Torchy’s hot sauce, cilantro, and cheese. We decided to mix it all together to optimize the flavors. The crunch and salt of the chips matched perfectly with the creamy and spicy queso. We ended up getting a refill of chips to finish every last bite of the delicious snack.
The taco came out soon after with vegetarian refried beans, pico, lettuce and cheese with a side of poblano sauce which I decided to get on a flour tortilla. It came overflowing the tortilla which made it quite messy to eat. I was surprised how well all the textures and flavors mixed together because I was originally worried it would be too mushy with the avocado, but it was fried to perfection.

Overall, Torchy’s is a great place to go if you are vegetarian. The flavors are unique and you don’t have to worry about ordering meat because everything on the menu is clearly marked. There is a variety of options, its relatively cheap, and if the line isn’t too long the food comes out within minutes so I would highly recommend it.
